Information literacy and research skills

The library has several initiatives to help students choose appropriate sources and use them ethically in course assignments. Our librarians can provide embedded support in D2L courses and design learning materials for instructors to teach information literacy and research skills.

What is information literacy?

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association, defines information literacy as "the set of integrated abilities encompassing the reflective discovery of information, the understanding of how information is produced and valued, and the use of information in creating new knowledge and participating ethically in communities of learning" (2016, "Introduction").
