Formatted example:

There are two options for citing this source in-text:

1) For 6 or more authors, cite last name of first author with "et al." for all in-text citations. Place author, year and page numbers in brackets at end of sentence:

(Cote et al., 2013, p. 754). 

2) Alternatively, the citation may be integrated into the sentence with a signal phrase and narrative:

Cote et al. (2013) found that high quality child care involving significant levels of language stimulation contributes positively to cognitive development (pp. 762-764). 


APA rules for in-text citation change depending on the number/type of author(s). Count the authors and follow the rule below:

Work with ONE author
Work with TWO authors
Work with THREE to FIVE authors
Work with SIX or more authors
Work with a GROUP, ORGANIZATION or CORPORATE author
Work with NO author specified
INTERVIEW or PRESENTATION (Unpublished)
SECONDARY SOURCE (A source found inside a source)
